Le Laboratoire 09, Matériaux et Énergies Renouvelables (LMER), a été agréé en 2000 (arrêté ministériel N°88 du 25 Juillet 2000), puis érigé en Unité de Recherche Matériaux et Énergies Renouvelables (URMER) en 2004 (arrêté ministériel N°21 du 1er Mars 2004) au sein de l’Université de Tlemcen.

L’activité autour des termes fédérateurs Matériaux et Énergies Renouvelables à l’université de Tlemcen date des années 80.

L’URMER est une entité de recherche pluridisciplinaire, regroupant en son sein 183 chercheurs de qualité (Physiciens, Chimistes, mathématiciens, électroniciens, électriciens, hydrauliciens et énergéticiens) dont 14 Professeurs, 15 Maîtres de Conférences classe A, 15 Maîtres de Conférences classe B, 30 Maîtres Assistants et plus de 100 doctorants.

Le potentiel scientifique appréciable de l’Unité travaille dans de nombreuses thématiques relatives aux sciences des matériaux (aspects fondamentaux et aspects appliqués) et aux énergies renouvelables (aspects physico-techniques et environnementaux).

Les chercheurs sont répartis sur 19 équipes, dans 4 divisions.

L’URMER joue un grand rôle dans la promotion de la recherche et de la formation graduée et post-graduée. La recherche est faite par le doctorant et pour le doctorant. L’activité de recherche/formation (Masters et doctorats) adossée à l’unité, articulée autour de l’énergétique, des énergies renouvelables, des matériaux et systèmes micro/nanométriques est l’un des point fort de l’unité de recherche et de l’université de Tlemcen. Elle donne lieu à une production scientifique importante et à une formation d’un grand nombre de masters et de docteurs. En moyenne, une cinquantaine d’articles scientifiques sont publiés, une trentaine de mémoires de master et une dizaine de thèses de doctorat, sont soutenus, annuellement.

L’URMER a plusieurs projets de collaboration et de coopération avec des partenaires nationaux et étrangers (PNR, CNEPRU, CMEP, TEMPUS, etc.).

Par ailleurs, l’URMER organise régulièrement des séminaires des doctorants et des manifestations scientifiques de haut niveau (ICRESD’2007, JITH’2011, NAWDMPV’2014, TCSBS’2014, etc.).

Le but principal des activités de l’URMER est de créer un partenariat avec les différents centres, unités et laboratoires de recherche nationaux et étrangers, ainsi qu’avec des partenaires socioéconomiques nationaux pour rehausser la recherche développement dans le domaine des énergies renouvelables et répondre particulièrement aux préoccupations énergétiques du pays.
