Division 3: Etude et Prédiction des Matériaux

La division Etude et Prédiction de Matériaux, fait partie de l’Unité de Recherche Matériaux et Energies Renouvelables érigée en 2005. Elle est située au pôle de Bouhanak de l’Université A. Belkaid de Tlemcen.
Elle est constituée de 03 équipes de recherche et comporte en son sein un nombre important de chercheurs permanents, doctorants et étudiants.
Les activités de la division s’inscrivent dans le cadre de la recherche industrielle contemporaine qui consiste à vouloir définir, uniquement par le calcul, l'architecture d'un matériau possédant des propriétés désirées dans un environnement donné. Même si cet objectif est encore lointain, les développements numériques et théoriques réalisés ces vingt dernières années constituent une panoplie relativement complète permettant de s'en rapprocher. Ces outils sont, en effet, maintenant utilisés couramment dans l’industrie, tant en ce qui concerne les propriétés structurales et mécaniques, que les propriétés de transport, et on peut supposer que les Unités visant à la modélisation numérique en Sciences des Matériaux vont continuer à se développer.
La principale caractéristique de cette activité est le caractère profondément pluridisciplinaire qu’implique la multitude d’échelles mises en jeu. Il faut ainsi avoir recours à des techniques allant de la physique microscopique pour la modélisation à l’échelle atomique, aux sciences de l’ingénieur classiques pour la modélisation à l’échelle des structures, en passant par les échelles intermédiaires relevant habituellement de la métallurgie ou de la Physique des milieux hétérogènes.
Dans le cadre de la simulation, l’expérience joue le rôle plus particulier de valider la modélisation, puisque le calcul doit fournir des prédictions très précises. Ainsi, il est essentiel de connaître les techniques expérimentales permettant une confrontation directe avec les calculs.
Enfin, l’informatique joue un rôle crucial dans toutes ces approches, en particulier dans le traitement du flot de données généré par une simulation.
Le LEPM, s’inscrit dans le cadre contextuel car il est impératif aujourd’hui que notre pays se tourne vers la recherche porteuse et fructueuse dans le domaine socio économique et essentiellement dans le contexte industriel auquel la mondialisation nous appelle à plus de rigueur et d’effort. A cet effet les travaux que nous proposons permettront de mettre au point une approche très pragmatique et simple afin de pouvoir concilier la théorie à la pratique. Donc essayer de trouver des mécanismes simples pour améliorer les propriétés des matériaux déjà existant et de pouvoir répondre aux besoins des problèmes posés par les industries algériennes dans les domaines de l’électronique de la métallurgie et du traitement de surface.
La qualité et la quantité des résultats obtenus, durant ces dernières années, dans différents domaines de la matière condensée nous ont permis d’acquérir une certaine notoriété aussi bien dans le plan national qu’international.
Les projets de recherche, nationaux et internationaux, la post graduation et les différentes manifestations scientifiques organisés par le laboratoire offrent un environnement scientifique et une dynamique de recherche idoines pour les jeunes chercheurs soucieux d’apprendre et de réussir.
